Its hard to say where this book went right. The plot seemed like it would be extremely interesting and so I contemplated buying this book a few times but in the end I found it for free. Hallelujah for it being free. If I had paid even one cent for this book I would be needing a refund.The dialogue is so juvenile and just poorly written.
Setting jumps all over the place, literally. Too much flashing, popping, teleporting.
The whole powers thing actually hurt this book. Seriously, if you can float around undetected, Kill a couple super powerful with one flash of light, communicate telepathicly, and heal all wounds - there is no true struggle.
-- on that note why did the strong, stinky, ugly beings take over the earth?
-- if they can be killed so easily despite being strong, stinky and ugly (one flash of light) how are they even a problem?
The characters are basically crying, whiny, violent, children... That's just how they are written.
This book needs to be completely re-done. I won't even go into what else is terribly wrong with this book. Read at your own risk.

Like a previous reviewer said, the many reason for THIS being bad are more numerous than the total words in this so called literature. I think the worst part was just the language. Curse words used for everything, stilted speech for others and absolute nonsense words for the most part. Example... crapity-crap, crapster place to be, etc. Not only did the main female character use this terrible speech, when other characters started to use the exact terminology I could no longer take the level of juvenile inability to communicate. Typos, poor grammar, cursing in place of actually writing and that inane way she apparently made the female lead a complete idiot. I will be honest after all this I had to stop reading this trash when it seemed that no less than two other characters started to sound just like the main female . I couldn't even finish although usually I do no matter what because I paid for it, but every time her language, or more like her lack of it, threw me hurling out of the story. BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
Give me a good paranormal/fantasy book with a kick ass heroine with a smattering of snarky comments and comedy and you would have made my day. This book's heroine is a yellow bellied pansy that got on my nerves more than once. Everything that she did or saw made her remember her horrible past with her abusive mother. Granted she was literally fried to a crisp, left with hideous 3 degree burns and had verbal abuse that made her have pessimistic attitude towards herself.
Yet despite all of this (and with the healing powers of Alaric) she grew into a strong female hero. She still has some flaws like being a "chicken s***" in facing Satan, but who wouldn't? This Satan hasn't been humanized into a lovable character. No he is the epitome of plagues, death, famine and pure unadulterated terror who is bent on total world domination.
Now this book may not be for everyone. In fact I recommend this book for those who like the Heku series because of the some of the "violence" and "comments" that Alaric makes to Liasare aka Sarah.
For me i enjoyed the book and i am going to buy the second one, shocking because i like to read the freebies in the kindle store. this book is that good
I'll admit I was drawn in to the great reviews and amazing cover art. I tried, I really did. I only got half way until I couldn't take it any more. The relationship of the lead male and female is very emotionally, verbally, and physically violent. Mix in lust and that's pretty much their relationship. I also started to notice a pattern. Jurek would become angry, violent even. He would yell at Liasare, maybe physically hurt her. She'd take it. The same page when he'd feel guilty she'd get pissed at him. She'd yell at him, possibly hit him as well. He'd take it until finally he'd get angry and the cycle would start over. He has a very egotistical attitude and she is very immature and somewhat slow in understanding. At times the author would explain something and me, the reader, would get it right away. But then Liasare wouldn't, so the author would have to explain it all over again but in another way. I feel like this is just a way to make the book longer. It was very annoying. When it got to the point where Jerk physicall hurt Liasare so badly she was on the ground practically unconscious I finally had to stop reading.
This may be a book you would absolutely love. But for me, I hated it. I don't appreciate romance novels who's main characters base their relationships solely on lust and consistently forget how much they abuse each other. It's not love. It's violence.
This is a very disjointed book with poor editing and no structure. The premise is very promising, but the character development was absolutely terrible. Characters are introduced for no reason. Some characters sound like they're from the deep South in the 1800's. So called aliens without any background knowledge of slang terms and details of American pop culture speak as if they grew up in the US in the 90's. The heroine is just terrible. She pouts, crosses her arms, taps her toe, and sticks out her hip to show that she's proud. I've never read such clichéd garbage.
The hero Jurek also is called Alaric, and Alaricus...why? He's a king on his planet, yet his friend Tak constantly insults him leading to physical altercations. Um....why? The heroine Liasare has such a terrible vocabulary. She's whiny and again, completely underdeveloped as a character.
We are supposed to be on this journey with them and all of a sudden the rules in the story change over and over again. Frustrating, boring, waste of time. I'm embarrassed to say that I finished it. Oh, well I will not be reading anything by this author again. This is the first "free" book that I've downloaded. If this is what I should expect then thank you , I'll be paying for my books from now on.
